French 1
Bonjour!
The picture to the left was taken inside the Palace of Versailles. French 1 is not offered this year because Intro to French did not run last year. However, it will be offered again in the 2022-2023 school year. French 1 reviews and then builds on the basics learned in Intro to French. Students continue with -er, -ir, and -re present tense regular verbs and high-frequency irregular verbs. They work with the future proche to tell about events happening in the near future and expound on negatives learned in Intro to French. They are introduced to the passé composé to tell about events that happened in the past. Last year's class read "Jean-Paul et ses bonnes idées" (John Paul and his Good Ideas) and "Pauvre Anne" (Poor Anne). Students continue to explore French culture and give presentations on a variety of topics using vocabulary they learned in class. They play games in French, including Jeopardy, Seven Families, Memory, Don't Pop the Balloon, and more. A variety of formal and informal assessments, including projects, will provide a more comprehensive measurement of student achievement than examinations alone. |
