About Miss Holloman
Education
I graduated from Rhema Bible Training College in 2001 with a diploma in Pastoral Ministry. In 2007 I graduated from Wayne State University with a double major in English and French and a minor in Linguistics. I graduated again from WSU in 2011 with a Master of Arts in Teaching with a double major in 6-12 English and K-12 French. In 2016, I earned an Education Specialist Degree in Educational Leadership from Oral Roberts University and currently a doctoral candidate at Oral Roberts University. I am expected to defend my dissertation this semester and graduate in December 2021 with a Doctoral Degree in Educational Leadership.
Here I am with Dr. Boyd, Dean of the College of Education at Oral Roberts University, when I graduated with my Education Specialist Degree.
Experience in Education
This is my second year at Huron Academy. I work with DLL students at the K-2 building and teach the French classes and the Flag Team this year. Prior to teaching at Huron Academy, I taught both AP English classes (Language/ Literature and Composition), K-5 French, Film, and Girls gym. I also served as both an assistant principal (6 months) and then principal (2 years) at a preK-12 school.
Hobbies
I enjoy playing tennis, quilting, reading, and crocheting. I play multiple instruments, but the two I play the most are the clarinet and flute. When the weather is warm, I love walking my dog or going for a swim. I enjoy acting and producing when the opportunities present themselves. Spending time with friends and family is really special to me.
I'm learning to be more crafty, and I made this at a Spark Arts Event. The paint is chalkboard paint, so I can change the writing on it as I please.
Pets
I have a cat named Zoe who is 6.5 pounds of sass and 8 years old. She has a no-fear attitude and loves attention. She's the princess of the house. Zoe is a silver-grey American Shorthair with the bull's-eye pattern on both of her sides. She was the runt of the litter that had to be bottle fed, but she pulled through and now wants to be anywhere the people are. She cries until the light and faucet are turned on for her to drink from the bathroom sink, and she will only secretly drink from her personal water fountain when she doesn't think anyone is watching her. She loves to play with her fishing rod and toy acorns, but she will only play with the dog on her terms. Zoe enjoys spending mornings sitting on someone's lap and snuggling at night when the weather is cold.
Samuel (Sam) is my 4-year-old dog. This picture of him is from when he was in a school play in 2018. He is in the Ambassador Program at Sit Means Sit, where he continues to train. He will be testing to be a therapy dog in September. He is very calm and has gotten over the many fears he had as a rescue puppy. His personality would be a good fit as a therapy dog in nursing homes. Sam has his AKC Canine Good Citizen (CGC) and Novice Trick Dog Certifications, and I'm working with him to pass the Intermediate Trick Dog Testing. He is listed as a Rottweiler and Chow-Chow mix though his wisdom panel also came back as being part Collie, Boxer, Pyrenees, and American Stafford. Even though he's 45 pounds, he still gives me hugs and wants to be carried at times. He loves wearing clothes, so he has his own mini-closet. He is one blessed dog!
